I started building a video to go along with this interview of me by DJ Dominic Trix from Wednesday 6/3/09 2-5pm on KFJC 89.7 FM but I never quite finished the video so I’m finally putting the interview up by itself in the meantime. Here’s the story of how the interview came about and a follow-up meeting between the DJ and myself in Santa Monica. I wrote the below paragraphs back in 2009.
06.03.09: I had a telephone conversation with San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley radio station KFJC’s DJ Dominic Trix a couple of days ago. We spoke about many things, one of which included the possibility of me doing an interview on his show. It might be happening today, Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 sometime between 2:00 and 5:00 pm. Sorry I can’t be more specific but he asked me to call in during the first half hour of the show, then said he could play something of mine possibly around 4pm, so I’m not sure how that’s going to work, I’ll have to wait till later to find out I guess. Dominic Trix has a 3 hour radio show every Wednesday from 2-5pm, he’s been a DJ at KFJC for over 20 years.
POST INTERVIEW UPDATE: Well… I did the interview and it wasn’t as short as I thought it was going to be, I think it lasted nearly an hour, we had a couple of technical issues between us, BUT other than the technical problems, it went pretty well I think. I may be posting a recording of the show on here this weekend. Wow, I can’t wait to have time to focus on recording so that next time I do a show like that, hopefully we’ll be playing my new music!
UPDATE 06.07.09 I met with DJ Dominic Trix yesterday when he happened to be in LA visiting some friends. I took him to McCabe’s Guitar Shop, I thought he’d enjoy checking out the instruments and hearing about the history of the place. Dominic recognized Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnel doing some shopping there and said hello to him. I bought a >unique handmade glass slide for my guitar and Dominic got a book on harmonica playing. Dominic gave me an mp3 copy of the radio interview that I did last Wednesday on his radio show. I gave it a listen yesterday and was amazed that I didn’t cringe once, somehow I managed not to embarrass myself. I think much of the credit for this goes to Dominic’s years of experience as an interviewer and DJ. I liked the interview so much that I want to take some time and add visuals to it like some old photos and video….. in which case, I’m going to need a bit more time until I post it online.
